At Studio Sookie, every piece has a story, and so does the studio itself. So let me introduce myself.
I’m Suzana Azevedo, and my path into the world of design has been a journey that has crossed countries, cultures, and continents. I was born in Brazil, raised in Venezuela, and eventually moved to the United States, where I earned a double B.A. in Architecture and French Cultural Studies, before completing a Master’s in Interior Design. Each of these places shaped my sense of style and taught me to see beauty in the details: how spaces feel, not just how they look; how form, material and meaning can create beautiful, livable spaces.
In 2012, I teamed up with my mentor to launch Nejaim Azevedo (@nejaimazevedo), a high-end residential architecture and interior design firm based in Brazil. Since then, we’ve had the pleasure of designing homes across Brazil, the U.S., Venezuela, Chile, Portugal, and the UK. Every project has been a lesson in culture, taste, and how deeply personal our surroundings truly are.
In 2020, I made the decision to relocate to Lisbon, a city that captured my heart with its light, elegance, and sense of quiet creativity. But I also noticed something missing: a refined, curated source for timeless home decor pieces that matched the level of detail and soul I wanted to bring into my local design projects. I wanted to change that.
That’s why I created Studio Sookie — a collection of objects that reflect a love of design, craftsmanship, and storytelling. Studio Sookie is more than a home decor store; it’s a thoughtful collection of objects meant to elevate your everyday. Whether it's a sculptural candleholder, a handwoven tray, a small piece of marble decor, or even a taxidermy peacock, every item is chosen with intention.
